How do I print the calendar?
First, display the calendar month you wish to print. The current month is displayed when you click on the ‘Calendar’ tab. Next, click on the ‘Print’ icon at the top of the calendar.

A pop-up window will appear showing a printer-ready view of the calendar. You will have to disable your pop-up blockers to allow this window to appear. You can now use your browser’s print menu to setup the page, and print the calendar.

Who should register and why?
When you register, you select a user name and password which allows you to log in to the calendar.

When do I need to login?
If the calendar administrator has setup the calendar as private, all users will need to login in order to see the calendar. Otherwise, most users of the calendar will rarely have the need to login. However, users will need to log in to perform the following operations: 1) Create or change email reminder settings, or personal information. 2) Change your password. 3) Add events or change calendar settings. This can only be done by registered users who are also designated as a Secondary Administrator by the calendar administrator.

How can I see additional details of an event?
Click on the event title that is displayed in the calendar to view the details of an event. A window will pop up showing the complete details of the event. This detail window can be printed by using the print icon in the upper right corner of the window.

How do I display only events of a particular category?
At the bottom of the calendar, the categories are listed with a check box next to the category name. Click on the check box of the category you wish to display. One or more categories can be checked, and therefore displayed, at the same time. Click on the check box next to “Show All” in order to display all categories. This removes the checks in the boxes next to individual category names.

How can I list only events of a particular category?
The categories are listed at the bottom of the calendar. To get a list of all events in a category, click on the name of the category (not the check box). Only future events will be listed. In the example below, the ‘Benevolence Ministry’ category was clicked:

4) To view a specific month that is after to the currently displayed month, access the pull-down menu which lists the next 12 months. To do this, click on the down arrow on the top right side of the calendar display. When the pull-down menu is activated, and the months are listed, click on the desired month.

How can I enter an event on the calendar?
Only registered users who are also designated as calendar administrators may enter events on the calendar. If you are a calendar administrator, you must log in to the calendar in order to add events. Once logged in, click on the Help icon for detailed instructions on entering events.

What is RSS?
Calendar Companion can work together with your organization’s website to automatically provide a list of the next few days’ events on the website. This is called web syndication and is accomplished using web feeds in a standard format called RSS. Once setup, this allows calendar updates to be displayed on your organization’s main website, without the webmaster having to do any work to update the website. Any change to the calendar is automatically fed to the website. The website will always display the upcoming events, including direct links to the detailed descriptions of each event in Calendar Companion. This web feed can also be subscribed to by individual users who have web feed readers (also called aggregators), so that recent and updated calendar information is automatically made available to the user.

What is Podcasting?
Podcasting is a web feed of multimedia files that subscribers can download automatically using RSS readers. Sermon Companion has the ability to automatically provide weekly feeds of the Sunday sermon to subscribers. Subscribers are individuals who have setup RSS readers to automatically download the sermon to their computer. Subscribers can then listen to the sermons on their computer or on a mobile audio device like an iPod. Subscribing to the Sunday Sermon podcast is free to all users of Sermon Companion. This allows individuals to listen when they want and how they want.
